MELANIE SOULES
Marketing
Contact Melanie here.

Melanie has been involved with marketing for the Association since she served as an intern in 2006. She graduated from the University of California at Davis with a B.S. in Evolution, Ecology & Biodiversity. While Melanie has always had an appreciation for food, her interest in tourism developed through research projects on ecotourism in Madagascar, zoo tourism in California and by studying art history on the French Riviera. She is particularly interested in the potential for culinary tourism's economic impact on rural communities. Melanie credits (blames?) her father for making her a culinary tourist, as family vacations were often so whirlwind that good food became the easiest (and tastiest) way to get a sense of where they were and remember where they had been! When not hard at work on the next big Association project, Melanie can often be found at the neighborhood Trader Joe's "doing research"

HELENE CARTER
Administrative
Contact Helene here.

Helene is charged with keeping the Association office running smoothly, something she does with classic British aplomb. Rarely seen, and she prefers it that way, Helene's presence is always felt even when she is away from the office. She runs a tight ship and nothing gets by her so "put that second doughnut back young man!" That said, Helene makes a mean currant scone with Devonshire cream, but don't dare ask for the recipe - it's a closely guarded family secret. Helene is a dog lover and is shown with her puppy Skipper.
